Ice Cream and Frozen Yogurt in Aurora

You know we’ll never recommend anything that’s definitely dangerous or harmful for your kid’s teeth, but as the season’s change, your child might be in the mood for the best ice cream Aurora has available.

As any responsible pediatric dentist in Aurora will tell you, sugar is definitely not the best choice for your child’s teeth. Consuming too many sugary foods can lead to tooth damage and cavities

However, we understand that it is not realistic for you or your kids never to have dessert. If you’re going to treat your family to something sweet, we recommend that you opt for ice cream or frozen yogurt!

Dairy is great for helping kids build healthy teeth and bones, so balance out the sugar in your dessert with a few health benefits like calcium (and probiotics found in frozen yogurt)! Here are some of our favorite ice cream and frozen yogurt spots in Aurora!

Sweet Cow

Sweet Cow Stanley, located in Stanley Market in Aurora, is their newest and largest location! They are working on some finishing touches, including a large outdoor patio, grass, and their signature bouncy cows. Their shop has a cool farmhouse feel, and they serve scoops, shakes, sundaes, ice cream sandwiches, floats, and ice cream cakes. They are even good for the environment! Sweet Cow only serves their ice cream in compostable or recyclable containers. How awesome is that?

Glacier Homemade Ice Cream

Ok, so we’re cheating a little here considering they’re in Greenwood Village. Still, they have a long record of offering amazing Gelato and non-dairy options for children and adults of all ages. Were you in need of ice cream for an event with your kids and friends? They also offer amazing catering options with premium toppings. Check them out or give them a call.

Menchie’s

Menchie’s is a national chain of self-serve frozen yogurt shops where customers get to create their flavor combinations and set their own serving size. These kinds of shops are great if you just want a little something sweet or if you want to control your child’s portion size!

Las Mariposas Neveria

What’s so great about this place is that you won’t just find amazing ice cream for your kids. Go ahead and give them a visit and ask about their amazing selection of crepes. Yup, you heard that right. Ask about the various crepes fillings and how you can combine them with your preferred ice cream flavor. Oh, and please give their shakes a try. We know you won’t regret it.

Cold Stone Creamery

Cold Stone Creamery serves hand-scooped ice cream cups and cones with toppings mixed in fresh right before your eyes! You can choose from any of their specialty creations or come up with your own combination of ice cream and toppings. They even have ice cream cakes and cookie sandwiches you can take home for later.

They also have an amazing selection of full-sized cakes and cupcakes you can take back home for your next celebration. Go ahead and check them out.

Can You Eat Ice With Braces?

The short answer is no. You shouldn’t let your kids or any patient wearing braces eat ice cubes because this presents a danger for their orthodontic appliance.  we were talking here about ice cream and frozen yogurt, both of which are amazing treats for kids undergoing ortho treatment. People can suck on ice cubes, especially if this helps with any discomfort at the beginning of treatment, but chewing on it can have serious repercussions.

Why Is It Bad to Eat Ice With Braces

As with many other hard foods or snacks that break into smaller and hard pieces, ice cubes can break away your brackets from your teeth. This is not a life-threatening situation, but it can make a dent in your treatment time expectations. Whenever a bracket becomes dislodged, you will require professional attention. Sure, you can use some DIY methods to put the bracket back in its position, but you will still need a professional, such as Dr. Patterson, to check there’s no additional damage and bond the bracket back in place.

Please, refrain from eating ice with braces.

Can I Still Eat Any Food I Want With Braces On?

We’re sorry to be the bearers of bad news, but no. You can eat just any food with braces on. As a general rule, please avoid things that are too hard to chew, sticky, or extremely sugary. All these foods and drinks will leave food particles stuck to your braces, dislodge brackets, or promote the growth of harmful bacteria that could undo all your hard work.

Orthodontic treatment requires some sacrifices in the dietary department. You should stay away from the following and anything that is remotely similar to the items in the list.

  • Popcorn
  • Nuts
  • Ice cubes
  • Chewing gum
  • Hard candy
  • Chewy candy
  • Hard crackers
  • Pretzels
  • Chips

Please avoid these foods to prevent any damage to your braces. This will only serve to delay your treatment. Please remember to follow your orthodontists’ recommendations.
